Foster CM Group Supports Dallas ISD “Back to School” Supply Drive

Under the NTTA’s Relationships and Opportunities Advancing Diversity (ROAD) program, Foster CM Group and Atkins joined forces to support the Dallas Independent School District (Dallas ISD/DISD) in their 2016 Back to School Supply Drive.

The team hosted a mixer at Atkins’ office to kick start the event on July 14, 2016. Throughout the next month, boxes were placed at four Foster CM Group project jobsites—the NTTA PGBT 4th Lane Widening Project, Dallas Water Utilities, Parkland Hospital and DFW Business Continuity Program—as well as at the Foster CM Group Dallas Office the Atkins Dallas Office and three at NTTA’s offices. During that time, multiple trips were required to collect all the school supplies that had been donated as the boxes were being filled to capacity!

The school supplies were delivered to Dallas ISD on Thursday, August 4, 2016. The school district was overwhelmed with the amount of supplies that were donated—the largest donation ever received! In fact, one of the DISD staff members, soon to be retiring, was brought to tears as she recalled a time when she was a recipient of supplies collected from this very school supply drive. Now, she is helping to organize the drive one last time. The supplies that were collected as part of this year’s school supply drive will be distributed at four Dallas ISD high schools as they had the highest need.

A handful of employees delivered the items to The Children’s Shelter on Monday, December 14th and took a tour of the campus facilities.
