Foster CM Group maintained the master schedule for the Wilford Hall Medical Center project, which was a component of an IDIQ Life Safety Upgrade program administered by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers–Huntsville, Alabama district. The $18 million project/addition involved upgrades to the existing Fire Sprinkler System, HVAC System, Emergency Power, Controls and Asbestos and Mercury abatement on four floors of the hospital and the basement.
Foster CM Group, as a subconsultant, revised the existing Primavera CPM schedule in order to submit the Baseline Schedule for approval to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Our staff worked with the project personnel to identify project goals and establish strategies, areas of responsibility and lines of communication. Foster CM Group assisted in determining all critical schedule dates and, based upon approval of this data and our own recommendations on construction sequencing, prepared a comprehensive Project Interim Schedule that established a critical path, identified who was responsible for each activity and projected manpower requirements for each major subcontractor. This interim schedule exhibited all relationships and constraints across the entire scope of the project. We also prepared a comprehensive reporting and decision tracking system that was updated and distributed bi-weekly to track work progress, identify problems and note all anticipated completion dates.
As construction progressed, Foster CM Group participated in team meetings inclusive of the project management team, general contractor, subcontractors and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers—the purpose being to act as an advisor to the Project Manager regarding the Initial Schedule of the project and subsequent schedule updates. Foster CM Group monitored and updated the Initial Schedule on a monthly basis to reflect construction progress.
