Foster CM Group provided Construction Inspection services for Runway 4/22 (formerly Runway 3/21) –Paving and Electrical for Runway 4/22 and Taxiway N.
The primary purpose of this project was to construct taxiway pavement(s); airfield lighting, signage and electrical infrastructure; drainage improvements; and NAVAIDs for the Runway 4/22 extension. The project work also included re-alignment of the Northeast Entrance Road and the Airport Perimeter Road, as well as Salado Creek re-alignment. Work within the runway operating environment required closure of the runway. Our inspectors worked in shifts, 24- hours/day and seven days/week.
Construction of the project was within the active Air Operations Area (AOA). All construction within the AOA was conducted in accordance with the requirements of San Antonio International Airport Operations and FAA Advisory Circular 150/5370-2E, Operational Safety on Airports during Construction. In addition, all contractor personnel were required to obtain security badging to work within the AOA and all construction vehicles on the AOA were required to be operated by personnel who completed the AOA driver’s training class conducted by San Antonio International Airport Operations or accompanied by an Airport-approved escort vehicle.
